Connect Fastn UCL to AI Assistant Preview for task Assignment in Jira

In this guide, you’ll learn how to use Fastn’s UCL AI Assistant Preview to assign Jira tasks with natural language; no integration code needed.

AI Assistant Preview is the overview of how your AI agent will work with integrated Connectors and Actions (Tools) through Fastn UCL.

What we will achieve

  • Connect your Jira account to Fastn UCL

  • Access the Fastn UCL AI Assistant Preview

  • Automate Jira task assignment using natural language prompts

Step 1: Configure Actions in Fastn

  • Log in to Fastn UCL from ucl.dev.

  • After you log in, you can select a workspace, after which you'll be directed to the next page to set up your integrations.

When you first log in to Fastn UCL, a workspace titled "My Workspace" is created by default. If you wish to create new workspaces and select from them, subscribe to Fastn UCL.

  • In the Connectors section, search Jira.

  • Click Enable on Jira, then choose the actions you want your AI assistant to use — such as Assign Issue, Create Issue, or Update Status.

  • Click Connect My Account and authorize access to your Jira workspace.

⚠️ You may need to be a Jira project admin or have the right permissions to link your account successfully.

  • Select the action Assign Issue, and click Done.

  • Click Continue to finish the configuration.

Step 2: Use Fastn’s AI Assistant Preview to Perform Actions

Open the Preview section in your workspace from the top right corner of your screen. On the right sidebar, you can see all your connected apps listed with the respective tools that are enabled.

In the AI Assistant, enter the prompt describing the action you want to perform. For example:

Assign "Task Name" to "User's Jira ID"

The AI Assistant will process your request using the appropriate action in the connected app, such as updating task in Jira.

  • Once successful, the task ownership will be updated in your Jira workspace.

This setup allows you to automate and streamline task management in Jira using natural language, making workflows faster and more efficient.
